Georgia's Trusted Local Source for Waterfall Explorations Since 2018

Walden Creek Falls

Chattahoochee National Forest

Lumpkin County
Dahlonega, GA

GPS Location:

34.64838, -84.02228

Waterfall Height:

30 feet

Taller than it appears in pictures, Walden Creek Falls is a scenic 30-foot free-falling waterfall. It's the first and main waterfall found on Walden Creek in the upper Yahoola valley. Walden Creek Falls was known for its elaborate wooden swing, which stood on the hillside above for many years but is now gone. I've seen the waterfall also referred to as "High Shoals on Walden Creek" by locals. Walden Creek Falls is accessed via a gentle 1.3-mile walk along the usually gated FR 263.
