Washer Falls
Southern Nantahala Wilderness
Rabun County
Clayton, GA
GPS Location:
34.97409, -83.51206
Waterfall Height:
80 feet
Washer Falls is a large sliding waterfall on an unnamed tributary of the Coleman River, about 80 feet high. The waterfall's name comes from a tale of somebody allegedly tossed a vintage wringer washing machine over its brink. Washer Falls sits in a cove heavily scarred by the 2016 Rock Mountain Fire, so the area is full of debris. Although the waterfall is only a few hundred feet from Coleman River Road (FR 54), it is difficult to view due to all the dense young vegetation and shrubbery. There is absolutely no trail leading to its base.
