Banks County
Lula, GA

GPS Location:

20 feet

Wilson Shoals Falls is the namesake of the Wilson Shoals Wildlife Management Area near Lula. This broad, cascading 20-foot waterfall lies in a lush deciduous forest. The sunny bedrock ledges and sandy beach area below the falls are a great area to cool off during the summer heat. Wilson Shoals Falls lies on a large feeder creek of the Hudson River, which is surprisingly unnamed. The creek bank at the falls is home to the well-preserved stone ruins of the Grant Mill, adding extra allure to the waterfall.

Wilson Shoals Falls is practically a roadside waterfall, making for especially easy access for visitors of all ages and skill levels. Grant Mill Road approaches the creek at the top of Wilson Shoals, where a gentle scramble path leads to the base. Outside of hunting season, Grant Mill Road is often gated to vehicles at the Wilson Shoals Shooting Range, which turns this into an easy 0.25-mile hike.

Note: A Georgia Lands Pass, Hunting, or Fishing License is required to use this land. The license costs $15 per person annually and can only be obtained online at www.gooutdoorsgeorgia.com or at certain retailers.
