Downstream from Lake Russell, the lower reaches of Nancy Town Creek feature a series of three waterfalls in a small gorge before the creek dumps into the Middle Fork Broad River. Unfortunately, this part of Nancy Town Creek flows through private property outside the Lake Russell WMA and is strictly inaccessible to the public. Wofford Shoals is the lowermost waterfall on Nancy Town Creek. A broad, cascading drop of about 15 feet, it has a beautiful pool at its base.

Historically, Wofford Shoals was an important site for the local community. This waterfall was once part of the 19th-century estate of William Benton Wofford, a former President of the Georgia Legislature. For many decades, the Wofford Mill operated by the waterfall's side. Local residents used to swim, camp, and even get baptized here. The waterfall has been closed for quite some time, the mill is gone, and a private home now overlooks Wofford Shoals. The waterfall was also known as Telford's Shoals, named for Telford Wilbanks who in the past lived in the house closest to the falls.
