Anthony Falls
Waterfall Info: Located at the 2,200-foot level, this is the lower and more beautiful of two large waterfalls on an unnamed tributary of Devils Branch (not shown on topo maps), flowing from the northeast from the slopes of Billy Mountain. It is flanked by an enormous, jagged cliff on one side. The falls is christened in the honor of Jack Anthony, a pioneer in Georgia waterfall exploration. For many years, Jack Anthony's distinguished waterfall website was the go-to resource on all things waterfall in North Georgia, until the site's information became too outdated and it was eventually taken offline. Jack Anthony is the author of two coffee table photography books with directions to waterfalls and scenic sights across North Georgia.
Landowner: Chattahoochee National Forest
Height: 50 Feet
Type: Steep Slide & Free-Fall (Double-Tier)
County: Rabun
Access Info: The access to this waterfall is complicated. Easy access from Devils Branch Road is not feasible because the land between Devils Branch and the road is private. The end of Marvel Lane further downstream along Devils Branch is also private. Probably the easiest way to access the falls is to hike the trail that goes past Upper Anthony Falls, and then bushwhack down the ridge on the north side of the unnamed stream. Due to the long cliff near the falls, it would be possibly easier to cross to the south side near the top of Anthony Falls and then bushwhack to the base.
