Gold Dust Falls
Waterfall Info: This is a large, scenic waterfall on a sizable unnamed tributary of Nerve Branch, flowing from Low Gap. There is a second waterfall a short distance upstream (see Upper Gold Dust Falls), but it is less scenic.
Landowner: Chattahoochee National Forest
Height: 50 Feet
Type: Stairstep Cascade (Single-Tier)
County: Habersham
Access Info: There are two ways to access Gold Dust Falls. One is to follow a well-defined forest road that begins at (34.721375, -83.521433) along Low Gap Road. The forest road reaches the stream with Gold Dust Falls in 0.8 mile, from where it's a 250-foot bushwhack upstream to the falls. The problem is I don't know anyone who's actually hiked this forest road (yet) so I don't know if it's easy to follow the whole way. The other way to reach Gold Dust Falls is to make a steep 0.3-mile bushwhack from Low Gap Road where it approaches the stream above the falls. The woods are pretty open, but navigationally, this is bound to be more difficult than the forest road approach.
