Hicks Creek Falls
Waterfall Info: This large waterfall is located at the lower end of Hicks Creek where it steeply tumbles into the Reed Creek gorge, right below Burrells Ford Road. The waterfall's drop becomes successively steeper, so you cannot really see the full falls from the bottom, but you can catch glimpses of it through the trees higher up the hillside.
Landowner: Chattahoochee National Forest
Height: 100 Feet
Type: Series of Sliding Cascades (Multi-Tier)
County: Rabun
Access Info: Park where Burrells Ford Road (FS 646) crosses Hicks Creek and walk west about 0.1 mile before bushwhacking down the moderately steep but open hillside toward Reed Creek. As you approach Reed Creek, you should cut east back towards Hicks Creek (now that you've safely bypassed the steep, overgrown area around the top of the falls). As the falls comes into view, you'll encounter a literal wall of dense rhododendron that you'll have to fight to reach the base. This last bit of the bushwhack is difficult as you need to search for slim passages through the rhododendron tangle. If you don't mind getting your feet wet, an easier route might be to go all the way down to Reed Creek, and then wade upstream a short distance to the Hicks Creek confluence to see the falls.
