Lower Burnett Creek Falls
Waterfall Info: The lower of two waterfalls on Burnett Creek, this drop has two distinct sections.
Landowner: Chattahoochee National Forest (Coopers Creek Wildlife Management Area)
Height: 35 Feet
Type: Cascades and Sheer Drop (Double-Tier)
County: Union
Access Info: Take FS Road 33 to the start of the Burnett Creek Trail. The trail begins (34.75201, -84.01484) at a handful of campsites! Depending whether they are in use, you may have to use one of the pull-offs close by to access the trail instead. Wherever you’re able to, ford Coopers Creek and connect to the trail on the other side of the creek. The trail is an old logging road that parallels Coopers Creek westward. Follow this trail for 0.5 mile. You will reach Burnett Creek here and be presented with a choice. You can either ford Burnett Creek and continue on this trail, or you can stay on the river-left (east) side of the stream (by not crossing the creek) and continue upstream. The latter choice avoids a later very steep scramble down from the trail. Either way, continue upstream along the side of the creek for 0.5 mile to the falls. To reach the upper tier, go another 100 feet along the river-left side. The trail on the river-right side can later be used as a return route if you choose to visit Upper Burnett Creek Falls.
