Owen Branch Falls
Waterfall Info: This large waterfall is located on Owen Branch where it drops off a significant escarpment south of Cook Mountain and Buzzard Rock. The stream is called Omen Branch on some topographic maps. Below the main drop is another sheer drop before the stream continues down a long run of small waterfalls and cascades. There is also some falling water above the main free-fall, so depending on what you consider to be a waterfall, the whole waterfall might be much larger than 70 feet.
Landowner: Chattahoochee National Forest
Height: 70+ Feet
Type: Double Free-Fall (Double-Tier)
County: Rabun
Access Info: This falls is accessed via a strenuous bushwhack from Walking Stick Road east of Highway 28. The best place to leave the road is where the road turns abruptly left (north) away from Little Creek. It is best to cross Little Creek right away and bushwhack near/along the old powerline cut south of Little Creek and west of Owen Branch. Try to leave the powerline cut as close as possible to the falls itself, because the rhododendron is insanely thick near the creek. The last part of the bushwhack will still be steep and difficult, but you can shorten the difficult part by following the old powerline cut longer.
