Phantom Falls
Waterfall Info: Morgan says: "I decided to name this waterfall “Phantom Falls” for a number of reasons. If you look into the history of the word “Skeenah” you will find that the word may be interpreted to mean “ghost” or “demon” in Cherokee. It took me several times of hiking and exploring this area to realize this drop existed. Very faintly, you can see a small feeder stream coming in from the left. There wasn’t a lot of water, but there was enough for me to be curious to see what was up above because it was steep. I walked upstream and found a low-flow giant! While there isn’t a lot of water, the height was impressive and certainly worth the pit stop for anyone coming into this area to see the other falls! However, it is the most difficult to reach of all the falls in this area. it would only be worthwhile in the winter or early spring. Through the summer months, you might be able to see this ghost after heavy rain. However, it is very close to a spring and will flush out quickly, even after it rains quite torrentially. In the fall, you will likely find nothing but a rock wall covered in leaves."
