Upper Saligugi Falls
Waterfall Info: This is the second waterfall on Milma Branch upstream from the Milma Creek dirt bike/OHV trail. It is located immediately upstream from Saligugi Falls, and it is immediately below the confluence of the two forks of Milma Branch. Additional waterfalls lie further upstream on both forks, but they are all low-flow and cluttered with deadfall.
Landowner: Chattahoochee National Forest (Cohutta Wildlife Management Area)
Height: 25 Feet
Type: Sheer Drop and Cascades (Multi-Tier)
County: Murray
Access Info: The best way to reach the falls is to hike the Windy Gap OHV Trail, either from its upper end at FR 49 near Lake Conasauga, or from its lower end at FR 218 in Windy Gap. From Lake Conasauga, the trail is single-track for dirt bikes only, while from Windy Gap, it looks more like a rough, narrow dirt road. The road crosses Milma Branch 0.3 mile downstream from the waterfall. An old logging road follows the west side of Milma Branch almost to the waterfall. The roadbed has some downed trees but is a relatively easy bushwhack. Once you reach Saligugi Falls, scramble around the cliff on the west side to reach the upper falls.
