Wells Shoals Falls (Hurricane Falls)
Waterfall Info: This is an outstanding waterfall with a broad sandy beach on the Middle Fork Broad River just upstream from Reservoir No. 44. This waterfall is located well downstream from Sellers Falls and Sandy Bottom Falls, the other two significant waterfalls on Middle Fork Broad River. The waterfall is probably on private property, although there are some disagreements between maps, as the waterfall is extremely close to the Lake Russell Wildlife Management Area boundary. A well-defined trail leads to Hurricane Falls from Post Oak Corner Road (FS 193), which is a very rough and narrow dirt road. Folks regularly hike this trail, and I haven't heard of anyone ever running into issues, but still, I will not advocate trespassing. You're on your own. While the name Hurricane Falls has been found on an old map, most locals call this Wells Shoals.
